Cake smash sessions aren’t just for first birthdays – they’re for anyone who loves a bit of fun, no matter their age… even your family pet!

Each bespoke session begins with timeless portrait photography to mark the milestone, followed by the joyful chaos of the smash itself. From cautious first touches to full-face dives, every moment is captured – right down to the frosting on their nose.

For little ones, the celebration continues with a warm bubble bath in a miniature tub – the perfect way to end a fun-filled experience.
For grown-ups, we swap the bath for a glass of bubbly – because who says grown-ups can’t get messy too?
Even pets can join the fun, chasing bubbles and enjoying their own treat-friendly cake.

Not a fan of cake? No problem. We can customise your session with doughnuts, fruit, watermelon, jelly, spaghetti, or even ice cream – whatever suits your style.

First birthdays may not be remembered by your child, but these joyful, professional photographs ensure the memories live on for a lifetime.

When you are ready to book, we can secure your session with a £50 non-refundable booking fee.

This does not include any images or products.

About a week later I will welcome you back to my studio in Darlington to view your beautiful gallery of edited images and choose your image collection.

Payment for your chosen images is due on the day of the session.

If you would like to do a payment plan Pay, 25% deposit of your order on the viewing day then either pay monthly or weekly up to the total of 3 months. (Payment plans are for orders over £299)

About your Cake Smash Session in darlington

With all smash sessions I provide the cake or the alternative you have chosen.
I work with a local professional, cake maker called Zoe’s pop cakes she makes all the amazing themed cakes.
When booking we will discuss what messy thing you would like for the smash. Then we can choose the theme to go with it. We have many themes to chose from.
Even if you have a different customer made theme in mind, this can still be accommodated with advance booking.
Although I do my best to capture everything from the day, it will depend on the baby’s mood on the day as nothing is guaranteed. The session can always be rescheduled if needed.
The best time to book a smash is avoiding nap time or feeding time. You know when your child is happiest in the day.
Although smash sessions are usually for birthdays it doesn’t have to be. If you are hoping for the images to be back in time for the birthday. Please book a month before to include time for processing.
Bringing siblings to the session, often distracts from the birthday child. It’s completely up to you if you would like them to come along.
As this session is messy, no matter the age, please bring a spare set of clothes for yourself as well, I might need your help. Contact us to book your Cake Smash session Darlington.
